POSITRACTION:  Start a Catholic Home School movement?

FROM A JASPER’S POST ON FACEBOOK

Holy Mother Church lost this battle decades ago when they didn’t vigorously oppose the whole concept of the Government running “skrules”.

From that point on, it was a losing battle for the hearts and minds of the young. Eventually, it will kill the Church.

The only trend to reverse it, — put your seatbelt on — is homeschooling. If parents wrest back the battle for the hearts, minds, and spirits of their precious gifts from God from the “Secular Progressive” Gooferment Skrules then maybe, just maybe, the Church and America as we know it can survive. The Prussian Model of education brought to the USA from Germany by Horace Mann was designed to produce: good cannon fodder for the army, willing factory workers, and useful idiots who can be controlled by the elite. Want proof? Where do politicians send their children to school? Catholic schools can NOT complete with the Government’s “free education”. Any wonder that the Gooferment Skrules teach the worship of the Gooferment? Argh!

So what does it take to get those who still call themselves “Catholic” and act that way — not the CINO politicians; nor the 48% of “catholics” who voted for Obama — to start a Catholic Home School movement?

Will it be hard?

Sure.

Can it work?

Absolutely! Look at the Homeschoolers. Mostly fundamentalist Christians, who are portrayed by the media as loons.

Do we have the capability of picking up this relatively minor Cross?

Suffer the little children to come unto me.

(From the fellow with no kids!)

http://www.gojaspers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=5463&DB_OEM_ID=12500&ATCLID=205818609

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan College is saddened by the passing of Athletics Hall of Fame member Donald McGorty ’59 who died on Tuesday. McGorty was a four year letterwinner for the Jaspers’ men’s basketball team (1955-1959) and was part of Manhattan’s historic upset of top-ranked West Virginia at the 1958 NCAA Tournament. He was also a member of the Manhattan track & field team.

McGorty was a stellar point guard for the Jaspers and helped lead the team to four consecutive postseason appearances (NCAA: 1956, 1958, NIT: 1957, 1959). As a freshman, he set a program record by scoring 442 points in 1955-56. In 1956-57, he was a key contributor for the Jaspers as they garnered a top-20 national ranking. Manhattan posted a 15-6 overall record his senior year as he served as a co-captain on a team that advanced to the NIT.

McGorty was a premier javelin thrower for Manhattan. He set a school record at the IC4A Championships in 1958 throwing the javelin 229 feet, 2 ½ inches. He captured three titles at the Metropolitan Championships in the event over his career.

JOBIT: Lawrence, John J. [MC1953 RIP]

http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/ctpost/obituary.aspx?n=John-Lawrence&pid=161364439

John Lawrence
Obituary

Lawrence, John MD.

John J. Lawrence MD, age 82 of Oronoque Village, Stratford, Connecticut and 60 year resident of Fairfield County, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He and his family resided in Fairfield, CT before retiring to Oronoque in 2007. Born in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Harry Austin Lawrence and Geraldine Walwyn Lawrence Johnson. He was the beloved husband of Lois Browne Lawrence.

Survivors in addition to his wife Lois include three loving daughters, Julie Lawrence of Riverdale, NY; Carolyn Dion and her husband Michael of New Milford, CT; Maryleigh Antoun, her husband Jon and grandson Jonathan Lawrence Antoun of Harrisburg, PA; two nephews, David and Daniel Lawrence of greater Boston MA. He was predeceased by three brothers: Larry (Austin), Gerry and Irving.

Dr. Lawrence received his Bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College, Bronx, NY in 1953 and a Doctorate in Medicine in 1957 from Howard University in Washington, DC. He began his medical career as an intern at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Bridgeport, CT. Dr. Lawrence established his private practice in Internal Medicine in 1962 and ran this practice until 1988 when he moved to the Administrative Staff of St. Vincent’s Medical Center to become its first Chief Medical Officer. He devoted his life to the service of others and remained active in his community.

He served as President of the Medical/Dental staff from 1984-1986 and as a member of the SVMC Board of Trustees from 1985-1988. He served on the Board of Directors of the Park City Primary Care Center and the Daughters of Charity National Health System Insurance. In addition, he also served a 9 year term as a Board member on Special Needs, the final two years as Board Chair. He tended to the residents of St. Joseph’s Manor, and in 1999 received the Mother M. Angela Teresa Award for Service. Additionally he was physician to the Jesuit priests of Fairfield University. He will long be remembered at the Medical Center for his passion and commitment to quality patient care and to the mission and core values of the Daughters of Charity.

His unwavering commitment to excellence consistently made him a “first” in most everything he did. Yet, he never defined his life as being a “first”, but rather as doing his best. Having broken many barriers to entry himself, John was a teacher and mentor to many interns and young residents who began their careers at the Hospital. He will always be remembered as a truly “gentle” man whose compassion manifested itself in countless unpublished acts of generosity both personally and professionally.

John was an avid golfer throughout his life. He served as Co-Chair of the SWIM Golf Tournament and the St. Vincent’s Invitational Golf Tournament. He was Brooklawn Country Club’s first black member. His friends called him Fairway John because his shots always landed in the fairway. He was a member Emeritus of The Guardsmen of Fairfield County. He enjoyed many summers with family and friends at his Oak Bluffs home on Martha’s Vineyard, MA.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 10:30am, meeting directly at St. James Church of Stratford, 2070 Main Street, Stratford, CT with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call Tuesday 3:00pm – 8:00pm in the Redgate-Hennessy Funeral Home, Main Street and Gorham Place, Trumbull, CT 06611. Those who wish may make a contribution in his memory to http://www.curepc.org and or http://www.uncf.org To send online condolences please visit

JEMAIL: Colon, Philip J. (MC1962) updates status of prayer requests

Good Afternoon All,

Nancy Maksomski thanks each of you for your prayers. Nancy’s Dad, Dave, had his procedure performed on Tuesday and all went well. Mr. Maksomski went home today, Wednesday, and is resting. The MDs will not know for a month if the procedure will have to be repeated, so, as a prayer of thanks is in order, please keep Dave and his family in your prayers throughout this recovery period. Thank you. God Bless.

Good Morning All,

Please keep Kevin Dolan in your prayers who continues to have a difficult back problem. As well, please keep Syl in your prayers as she too continues to experience pain and discomfort with her injured leg but as Kevin says, “She soldiers on.”

Kevin at this time has opted not to have surgery due to the fact that the soluton would require Fusing with screws and prpbably a six month recuperative period. Neither one of those sounds like fun. He continues Physical Therapy, massage and some Yoga. Pray that this works for Kevin. Thank you. God Bless.

The Church Lost the Marriage Debate Decades Ago: It’s Time To Get Out of the Game
Posted by Ryan W. McMaken on November 23, 2012 02:48 PM

*** begin quote ***

Another reason to give up on the civil marriage game is to recognize that the American bishops actually threw in the towel on this decades ago when they made peace with no-fault divorce. According to Catholic theology, unless the marriage started out as unlawful (i.e., is incestuous or invalid for another reason) marriage does not end until one of the parties dies. Case closed. No exceptions. It says this in numerous places in the New Testament. Yet, the American bishops recognize the state’s alleged prerogative to define a “marriage” as a union between divorced people. This violates what the Church has always taught. So, why is a fake and adulterous marriage (as defined by Catholic theology) acceptable as long as it’s between a man and a woman? Yet, a fake and adulterous marriage is not acceptable if between a man and a man? Apparently, the state can recognize that a man who has been divorced 5 times is “married” if the state says so. And the bishops have no problem with this.

None of these situations is morally acceptable for Catholics of course, and never have been, but the American bishops abandoned their political consistency on this in the 60s when no-fault divorce was accepted because the bishops were either too eager to compromise or too asleep at the switch to take a stand back then. So, you’ll forgive the public for not noticing when the American bishops recently decided that “oh, this time, on gay marriage, we’re going to stick to our guns.”

It’s time to cut the cord. Let’s swallow our pride and say that we’ve been wrong about marriage ever since that day centuries ago when we started allowing civil authorities to decide who was married and who was not. It’s time to say that all civil law about marriage is null and void, and that we don’t care what the government has to say about it. Divorced people aren’t “married” any more than gay people are. If other private individuals wish to define matters differently, they can have marriages in their own churches or living rooms or where ever, and the state should be removed from it just as the state should be removed from the activities all consenting adults.

*** end quote ***

[JR: Interesting when secular conservative writers have insights into the Catholic Church. When they are spot on, then it’s even better. Whule it may not make a big difference at this point, seems like a start to deny performing a “state marriage” in Church. Should take down the American flag as well. If the State / King is not going to recognize the First Amendment, then it’s time to fight. Excommunicating all the CINO politicians would be a good start. Closing the Catholic hospitals is not “unimaginable” either.]
